The American Dream wasn’t a lie, it was mislabeled

“The American Hustle” would be more appropriate

but we prefer “the Dream” to “the Hustle”

because our laziness has us disabled

It’s fabled the hard work pays off

But the “big time office job” was repackaged as a cube, where if one person in the department gets sick

everyone gets a cough

People scoff when you say “your brain is drained”

Concentrated Cabin Fever inside of three walls

using all of your energy not to go insane

Then you get sucked in, there’s a corporate ladder to climb

Meet expectations, fall in love, start a family

pay your dues and your student loans at the same time

Your prime is wasted

You’re used up by the machine

Balancing debt with regret

All for the American Dream
